On Wednesday, December 2, 18-year-old Tarmetris Daniel Mack and 17-year-old Alfred Higgs, Jr., both of whom are Osceola County residences and who both have Polk County warrants for armed robbery and first degree murder, turned themselves in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office at the Northeast District substation in Davenport.

They have been booked into the Polk County Jail & JAC, respectively, on their felony charges, and had first appearance hearings Dec. 3.

Investigators say Mack and Higgs fatally shot a Poinciana man on Monday, November 23, at the 7-Eleven store located at 398 Marigold Avenue in the Poinciana area of east Polk.

The victim met the suspects at the store to sell them a bag of marijuana. During the transaction, the suspects robbed the victim, which resulted in the exchange of gunfire between them. The victim was fatally shot and the suspects fled the scene heading westbound on Walnut Street.

A video from the store that shows the robbery and shooting can be seen on the PCSO YouTube page https://youtu.be/PfXtDKtR4rg.

"I'm so sick of hearing that drugs aren't dangerous,” Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said. “We have a young man who's dead today, because he came to a gas station to sell drugs to these two suspects, who ripped him off, then shot and killed him."
