Food Bank gets donation from Publix

Publix Super Markets Charities once again displays its community-minded generosity by granting the Heartland Food Bank the sum of $10,000 to help

SEBRING — Publix Super Markets Charities once again displays its community-minded generosity by granting the Heartland Food Bank the sum of $10,000 to help complete renovations in their office building located at 941 N. Ridgewood Drive in Sebring.

“We are excited to announce that after five years of fundraising and remodeling, we are finally ready to move in!” said the Heartland Food Bank.

The office, which is a renovated residence, has a board room, kitchen, two offices and a bathroom. Once the offices have been completely moved to the new location, they will have more room in the warehouse to expand the areas for shelf-stable food and non-food items which are distributed to the community through our 42 member pantries. “Through these pantries, we are able to serve approximately 10,000 people per month,” the Food Bank said.

Originally there was planned to have an open house to properly thank Publix and the community for their generous donations which made this project possible, and once the stay-at-home orders have been lifted and life can return to normal, we still plan to have an open house.

As always, the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of the Heartland Food Bank extend their sincere thanks to Publix Super Markets Charities for their on-going support that helps us continue our mission to Let No One Go Hungry.
